Claudia Black is an Australian actress who was born and bought up in Sydney. She attended the Kambala Girls School. She has spent many years of her life in New Zealand and Europe. She was the finalist in the Globe Shakespeare Competition in 1990. She married her husband Jamie in 2004. The couple has two sons named after the Norse gods Oden and Viggo. She is a true professional as is clear from the fact that in 2004 she postponed her honeymoon due to her professional commitments. Also later in 2005, when she was pregnant with her first child, it was written into the plot of her current show. In addition she is also a professional singer who loves to sing jazz and classical music. She also is a talented guitar player.

Claudia started her acting career with roles in Australian television and movies. On television she has appeared on shows like G.P., Police Rescue, A country Practice, Water Rats, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, City Life, Good Guys Bad Guys, Xena: Warrior Princess, Stargate SG-1 and Moonlight besides being cast in the role of Aeryn Sun on Farscape. She has also acted in the movies Stolen Life, Queen of the Damned and Pitch Black. In 2005, she won the Saturn Award for the Best Actress on Television for Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars and has besides been nominated for five other awards.

Role in Farscape

In Farscape, she plays the role of the rebel Peacekeeper Officer Aeryn Sun. At the beginning of the series she is sentenced to death after being stripped of her rank for helping John. She lacks feeling and sympathy as she has been trained as a soldier since she was a child. However, her association with John soon changes her and she falls in love with him, and even gives birth to his child towards the end of the series.
