The first season of the series Farscape started on the 19th March 1999. The season had a total of twenty two episodes. In the first episode, John Crichton is accidentally sucked into a wormhole and is rescued by spaceship named Moya that is pursued by the insane Peacekeepers. A peacekeeper retrieval squad arrives when Moya is infected by alien bugs. The crew rescues two Illanic scientists after which John has weird visions about future events. The crew affected by the drug filled weapons of the Tavlek’s who kidnap Rygel and a part of Moya’s propulsion system. The crew is investigating a spaceship abandoned by peacekeepers when they are attacked by the Shiangs. The crew follows D’Argo onto a planet of happy workers but John smells trouble. Moya lands on a planet to escape being detected by Peacekeepers while John has to take the help of the local scientist and his son to save Moya. Maldis forces John into a challenge to death against Crias forcing Zahaan to take on her dark side to save her friends

A genetic scientist tempts the crew with maps for returning to their respective worlds in exchange for their DNA samples. When the crew saves D’Argo, he starts hallucinating while Moya makes the living conditions on the ship uninhabitable. Aeryn and John disguise as Vorcarian Blood Trackers to save D’Argo who has been kidnapped by them. When John and Aeryn are trapped in an invisible energy net created to capture ships, D’Argo comes to their rescue. Zahaan has to force some of her own people to learn to overcome their anger or face madness beyond imagination. Thinking that he has been abandoned by Moya, John unknowingly becomes involved in a life threatening power struggle. John gets back to Earth via a wormhole and his friends are forced to follow him, but they are imprisoned by the government and made a subject of study. Captain Durka lands on Moya along with a criminal named Chiana after a collision with a Nebari ship.
