Farscape Show Summary
17 of February 2009
Farscape was a science fiction series which premiered on the Sci-Fi channel on 19th March 1999. The Australian-American series which was filmed in Australia was created by Rockne S. O’Bannon and was produced by Jim Henson Productions and Hallmark Entertainment. The series which was initially supposed to have five seasons, was abruptly cancelled after the production of its fourth season ended, thus ending the series somewhat in the midway. The series revolves around the life of John Crichton who is accidentally sucked into a wormhole and finds himself in a distant part of the galaxy among aliens and in the middle of a war with the technology that he had never imagined could exist.

He is ultimately rescued and brought aboard the live spaceship Moya which is being chased by the aggressive Peacekeepers that originated as a law enforcement agency but has turned into a mercenary power. John is joined in this adventure trip by Aeryn Sun, who is a former officer of Peacekeeper, Ka D’Argo, an impatient Luxan warrior who was punished for a crime he never committed, Pa’u Zotoh Zhaan a woman belonging to a plant-like species, Dominar Rygel VI the deposed ruler of the Hynerian Empire and Chiana the insubordinate con artist. The team is pitched against Scorpius the merciless commander of Peacekeeper who wants to extract the wormhole technology from John’s brain. In the third season,

John was split into two clones with one trying to go back to Earth and the other bonding with Aeryn who has fallen in love with John. During the four years for which the series was run, a total of eighty eight episodes were aired. The series was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and thirteen other awards. It also won eleven other awards. The final episode of the series was aired on 23rd March 2003. The series was followed by a four hour miniseries which was telecast in October 2004 to wrap up the cliffhanger left at the end of season four.
